Our ClubThe Blue Ridge Rotaract Club is a organization for young professionals interested in helping the community while developing lasting relationships. We are constantly looking for new ways to improve the community while also doing our part internationally. This club is sponsored by the local Rotary Club of Blue Ridge Mountains, Rotary Club of Charlottesville and the Rotary Club of Albemarle County. To read more about our sponsers visit their websites. Our Projects:We look for opportunities to work with area businesses for our events and fundraisers in an effort to involve as many community members as we can.
Our group has helped to raise polio awareness through the Purple Pinky Project. With the cooperation of the surrounding school districts as well as the private schools in the area, we hope to raise money and awareness for polio vaccines around the world by asking kids (with parental permission) to donate $1. The kids will have their pinky fingers dyed with a special solution to help remind them of their contribution. Floating down the James River while raising money for the Fluvanna SPCA was a great success thanks to everyone who came out. It was a nice relaxing day on the river. On September 18th 2010 the first ever Holey Moley Cornhole Tournament resulted in a huge success. We raised funds for the people at Camp Holiday Trails so that they may continue their work with children with chronic illnesses. Camp Holiday Trails is an organization committed to empowering, encouraging and education campers with chronic illnesses, their families and healthcare professionals. The Blue Ridge Rotaract Club aims to supports this mission with a fundraising over $1400. Get involved! Sign up to play or consider a sponsorship to help support this vital piece of our community. The top three teams also walked away with prizes of their own. |
